When people say "KrutiDev to Mangal", they mean converting legacy KrutiDev, an ASCII-based Remington-layout font, into portable Unicode Devanagari.

What Is the Mangal Font?
Mangal is the default Devanagari font that ships with Microsoft Windows, which is why so many people search for "Mangal" rather than "Unicode". It is the font Windows selects automatically when you type Hindi in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint on a fresh install. Mangal is an OpenType Unicode font available in Regular and Bold, and Hindi is entered into it using the Inscript keyboard layout built into Windows.
Because Mangal is bundled with the operating system, it needs no separate download on a Windows machine. That is the practical difference from KrutiDev, which is a legacy font you have to install before its text will display at all. Mangal, Unicode, and Devanagari: the Same Text
Mangal, Unicode, and Devanagari get used interchangeably, and the overlap confuses many users. Devanagari is the script Hindi is written in. Unicode is the universal encoding standard that assigns every Devanagari character a fixed code point in the block U+0900 to U+097F. Mangal is simply one Unicode font that draws those characters on screen.
So converting KrutiDev to Mangal produces the same underlying text as converting KrutiDev to Unicode. You can display that text in Mangal, Nirmala UI, Noto Sans Devanagari, or any Unicode Hindi font, and it stays readable, copyable, and searchable everywhere.
